Amulet’s Simple Displays are reliable, high-quality flat-panel displays (IPS-TFT) designed for applications in which the host processor handles all graphics processing. Unlike our Interactive Digital Display Modules, these panels are “target” devices that lack the computing power and memory to generate or retain an image on their own. They rely entirely on your application processor to provide the frame buffer and manage the constant 60 Hz refresh rate. They are the ideal, cost-effective choice for engineers who already have the onboard computing power, graphical operating system, and high-bandwidth digital video interfaces (LVDS, MIPI, or 24-bit RGB-TTL) required to drive a display directly.

Host Resource Consumption
Driving a display panel requires significant CPU cycles, RAM, and FLASH memory to refresh the image at 60 Hz.
Interface Complexity
Designers must manage high-bandwidth interfaces such as LVDS, MIPI, or 24-bit RGB-TTL, which require careful PCB routing and signal-integrity management.
No Independent Touch Processing
On a Simple Display, any touch panel is merely a physical attachment. The host must manage all touch-coordinate interrupts and processing, as there is no electrical connection to the display itself for processing.
Driver Development
Engineers must write or integrate custom low-level display drivers to communicate between the host and the panel.
Longevity Concerns
Sourcing panels that won’t go EOL (End of Life) in the middle of a product’s lifecycle is a major risk for industrial and medical manufacturers.
